Hotels Near Mauritius Airport: 4 Best Places to Stay

Nobody wants to spend the first few hours of their Mauritius holiday in a taxi after a long overnight flight. The same goes for leaving the island. If your flight departs early in the morning, getting up at 3 AM to travel from a resort on the other side of Mauritius probably isn’t how you imagined ending your holiday.
Fortunately, there are several good hotels near Mauritius Airport, including a dedicated airport hotel and a few lovely beachfront resorts just a short drive away.
Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport (MRU) is located in Plaine Magnien, in the southeast of Mauritius. The nearby areas of Blue Bay, Pointe d’Esny and Mahébourg have accommodation ranging from practical overnight stays to luxury resorts where you can enjoy one last afternoon by the sea.

If you simply need somewhere comfortable to sleep before an early flight, Holiday Inn Mauritius Mon Trésor is the most convenient option, just three minutes from the airport. If you have more time to enjoy, Le Peninsula Bay, Preskil Island Resort and Constance Le Chaland are all roughly 15 minutes away by car.
Here are four hotels worth considering, depending on your arrival time, budget and how you would like to spend those final hours in Mauritius.

The 4 best hotels near Mauritius Airport
1. Holiday Inn Mauritius Mon Trésor: Best for early flights and late arrivals

Distance from airport: Approximately 3 minutes by car.
For travellers who mainly want a good night’s sleep and an easy journey to the terminal, Holiday Inn Mauritius Mon Trésor is probably the most sensible choice on this list.
Located in Plaine Magnien, the hotel is just a few minutes from SSR International Airport. It has comfortable, modern rooms, an outdoor swimming pool, a fitness centre and an on-site restaurant, so you won’t need to go searching for somewhere to eat after a tiring journey.
The biggest advantage is the complimentary airport shuttle, which operates daily between 7 AM and 11:30 PM. However, you’ll need to confirm the pickup arrangements with the hotel, as the shuttle doesn’t operate continuously throughout the night.
That is especially important if you’re catching a very early flight. If you need to reach the airport at 4 or 5 AM, you’ll have to arrange alternative transport.
Holiday Inn is also a reasonable option for business travellers spending a night in Mauritius or visitors arriving too late to comfortably travel to their main resort.
There is one thing to keep in mind, though. This isn’t a beachfront holiday resort. While the hotel has its own pool and offers access to a beach shuttle service, its main attraction is the convenient airport location.
If you’re only staying for one night before flying out, that’s unlikely to be a problem.

2. Le Peninsula Bay Beach Resort & Spa: Best for a more affordable beachfront stay

Distance from airport: Approximately 15 minutes by car.
If you have an afternoon to spare before your flight and would rather spend it beside the sea, Le Peninsula Bay Beach Resort & Spa is worth considering.
The hotel is located in Blue Bay, one of the nicest coastal areas close to Mauritius Airport. It’s a fairly straightforward resort, with comfortable rooms, a swimming pool, a spa and a restaurant serving buffet meals and Mauritian specialities.
Its location is the main reason to book. Blue Bay is known for its clear lagoon and marine park, and you can enjoy some beach time without travelling far from the airport.
If your flight leaves in the evening, you could spend the morning swimming or relaxing beside the pool before getting ready to leave. Blue Bay is also one of the better-known places for snorkelling in Mauritius. If you have enough time, our guide to the best snorkelling spots in Mauritius explains what makes this part of the island popular.
Le Peninsula Bay is generally a more affordable alternative to the larger luxury resorts nearby, although prices will depend on your travel dates and chosen room.
It’s worth keeping your expectations realistic. The accommodation is relatively simple compared with Preskil or Constance Le Chaland. If you’re looking for a high-end resort experience, the other options may suit you better.
For a short stay where you want a beach, a pool and a convenient airport transfer, it makes a lot of sense.

3. Preskil Island Resort: Best for a relaxing final night in Mauritius

Distance from airport: Approximately 15 minutes by car.
There is something rather nice about finishing your Mauritius holiday beside the lagoon instead of spending your last night in a standard airport hotel.
Preskil Island Resort, located at Pointe Jérôme near Mahébourg, is a good option if you’d like to make the most of that final day.
The four-star resort occupies a peninsula overlooking the southeast lagoon, with views towards Île aux Aigrettes and the surrounding mountains. Despite being so close to the airport, it feels like a proper holiday destination.
You’ll find spacious accommodation, restaurants, swimming pools, a spa and water sports activities. It’s the sort of place where you can have breakfast looking out over the water, spend a few hours by the pool and still reach the airport without a long drive.
For couples or families, Preskil could also be a comfortable place to spend the first night after arriving in Mauritius, particularly if you’re planning to explore the southeast before moving to another part of the island.
The nearby town of Mahébourg is worth visiting if you have some extra time. It’s a pleasant change from the resort areas, with local shops, food stalls and a waterfront. Our guide to Mahébourg Market is a useful starting point if you want to explore the town.
The only real drawback is that Preskil may be more than you need for a quick overnight stop. If you arrive close to midnight and have to leave first thing in the morning, you won’t have much opportunity to enjoy the facilities you’re paying for.
For travellers who have at least half a day to relax, though, it’s one of the more appealing hotels near Mauritius Airport.

4. Constance Le Chaland: Best for a luxury stay near the airport

Distance from airport: Approximately 15 minutes by car.
If you’re looking for something more luxurious, Constance Le Chaland is the most upscale option on this list.
Previously known as Anantara Iko Mauritius Resort & Villas, the property became Constance Le Chaland in February 2026. It’s located along Le Chaland Beach on the quieter southeastern coast of Mauritius.
The setting is quite different from Blue Bay. This stretch of coastline feels more secluded, and the resort is surrounded by tropical greenery and a relatively undeveloped coastal landscape.
Accommodation ranges from spacious guest rooms to suites and private pool villas. There’s also a spa, several dining options and swimming pools, making it a comfortable place to spend a final day or two in Mauritius.
For couples celebrating a honeymoon or anyone who simply prefers staying somewhere special, Constance Le Chaland is an attractive alternative to the busier resort areas in the north and west.
It’s also convenient for travellers arriving in the evening who would rather spend their first night somewhere luxurious before continuing with the rest of their holiday.
However, this hotel makes the most sense if you have enough time to enjoy it. Booking a luxury resort for six or seven hours of sleep before an early flight may not be particularly good value.
Also, don’t assume that airport transfers are included in your room rate. Check the arrangements and any additional charges before arriving.
If your flight leaves in the afternoon or evening, you could enjoy a leisurely breakfast, perhaps book a spa treatment and still have a relatively short journey to the airport.

What to know before booking a hotel near Mauritius Airport
Staying near the airport can make your arrival or departure much easier, but there are a few things worth checking before making a reservation.
For an early morning departure, work backwards from your flight time rather than relying only on the distance between your hotel and the airport. Air Mauritius recommends arriving at the airport at least three hours before departure, and other airlines may have their own requirements.
For example, if your international flight departs at 7 AM and your airline requires you to be at the airport by 4 AM, you’ll need to arrange transport well before the Holiday Inn’s regular shuttle starts operating. Ask your hotel whether it can organise a taxi at that hour, and confirm the cost in advance.
For a late-night arrival, let the hotel know your expected arrival time. Immigration, baggage collection and other airport formalities can take time, so you might reach your hotel considerably later than your flight’s scheduled landing.
There’s another detail that’s easy to overlook. If your flight lands at 1 AM on Tuesday and you want to go straight to your room, you would normally need to reserve the room for Monday night and inform the hotel about your late arrival. Booking from Tuesday afternoon would usually mean waiting until the hotel’s normal check-in time.
If you’re leaving later in the day, ask about late check-out or luggage storage. Some hotels may be able to extend your room booking, depending on availability and additional charges. Otherwise, you might have to check out in the morning even when your flight isn’t until late evening.
Airport taxis and private transfers are usually the simplest ways to reach the beachfront resorts around Blue Bay and Mahébourg, especially when travelling with luggage. Holiday Inn has its own scheduled shuttle service, but you should check transfer arrangements separately for the other properties.

And if you’re watching your spending, remember to compare the total cost of the room and airport transfer rather than the hotel price alone. Our Mauritius travel budget guide has more information about typical accommodation and transport expenses.
Is it worth staying near Mauritius Airport?
That depends on your flight schedule. If you’re arriving in Mauritius during the afternoon and staying for a week or longer, there’s usually no need to spend a night near the airport. You can travel directly to your chosen resort and settle in.
The same applies if your return flight is in the evening and you’re comfortable arranging a transfer from your existing hotel.
Mauritius isn’t an enormous island, although driving times can be longer than you might expect, particularly during busy periods. If you’re still deciding where to base yourself, our guide to where to stay in Mauritius compares the different coastal areas and what they’re best suited for.
An airport hotel becomes much more useful when you have a very early departure, a late arrival or an overnight stop between flights.
For the shortest possible airport journey, Holiday Inn Mauritius Mon Trésor would be my first choice. Le Peninsula Bay is worth considering if you prefer something more affordable beside the beach, while Preskil is a better fit if you have time to enjoy a proper resort stay. Constance Le Chaland is the luxury option, particularly if you’re happy to spend a little more on your first or final night.
One last piece of advice: whichever hotel you choose, confirm your airport transport before arriving. It’s a small detail that can save a surprising amount of hassle, especially when you’re travelling at an unusual hour.
