1. Trou aux Biches (North Coast)
Overview: Trou aux Biches is the valedictorian of beaches. It is consistently ranked among the most beautiful spots on the island and for good reason. It stretches for about 2 kilometers and has pristine white sand that feels like powdered sugar between your toes. The water is protected by a coral reef which means no big scary waves to knock you over. It is shallow and gentle and perfect for families or anyone who prefers their ocean to be as calm as a bathtub.
How to Get There: It is super easy to find. You can take a bus from Port Louis which takes about an hour and 45 minutes if you enjoy scenic routes. Best Time to Visit: Try to go between May and November. The snorkeling is best from June to October when the water is clearer than your future. Avoid January to March unless you enjoy cyclones and heavy rain.
What to Do: You have to put on a mask and look at the fish. The marine life here is vibrant and they are very photogenic. If you are feeling brave you can go scuba diving at the deeper reef sites. 2. Belle Mare Beach (East Coast)
Overview: Belle Mare is long. Really long. It stretches over 5 kilometers along the east coast. This means that even on a busy day you can find a spot where you don’t have to listen to your neighbor’s conversation. The sand is soft and white and the lagoon is backed by lovely palm trees. It feels very spacious and open. There are lots of fancy hotels nearby but the beach is for everyone.

Best Time to Visit: You can visit year round but May to November is the sweet spot. If you are a morning person this is the place to be. The sun rises right over the water here and it is spectacular. It is worth waking up early for we promise.
What to Do: This is a great spot for water sports. You can go parasailing and see the island from the sky or try the underwater walk if you want to hang out with fish without swimming. Practical Tips: Watch out for dead coral patches in the water. We recommend wearing water shoes to protect your feet. The water is very calm so it is excellent for swimmers who are not exactly Olympic level.

3. Île aux Cerfs (East Coast/Island)
Overview: Île aux Cerfs is the superstar of Mauritian tourism. It is a small island off the east coast that looks like it was photoshopped. The beaches are blindingly white and the lagoon is a deep blue. It has everything from restaurants and souvenir shops to a golf course. Yes you can play golf on a tiny island. It is very popular so expect crowds but the beauty is worth it.
How to Get There: You cannot drive there obviously. You need a boat. You can take a taxi boat from Trou d’Eau Douce which is the cheapest option and takes about 15 minutes. Best Time to Visit: Go between May and November for calm waters. If you go during cyclone season you might get wetter than you planned.
What to Do: This is an adult playground. You can go jet skiing or paddleboarding or kayaking. Make sure to visit the waterfall at Grand River South East which is usually part of the boat tour. If you are hungry enjoy a BBQ lunch on the beach. There is nothing like eating grilled chicken with your feet in the sand.
Practical Tips: Book your boat in advance especially if you are visiting in December. The catamaran tours offer great value because they include food and transport. Just make sure to bring enough sunscreen because the soley (sun) is strong out on the water.
4. Le Morne Beach (Southwest Coast)
Overview: Le Morne is dramatic. It is framed by the giant Le Morne Brabant mountain which is a UNESCO World Heritage site. It is arguably the most scenic beach on the island. The contrast between the rugged mountain and the soft white sand is stunning. The water is clear and turquoise and it is a hotspot for windsurfers.

5. Flic en Flac Beach (West Coast)
Overview: Flic en Flac is the longest beach on the west coast. It is vibrant and fun and full of life. The sand is white and the water is blue and safe for swimming. It is famous for its sunsets which are truly spectacular. The area is very developed so you have plenty of restaurants and bars right across the road.

6. Pereybere Beach (North Coast)
Overview: Pereybere is a small cove that packs a punch. It has soft powdery sand and water so clear it looks like a swimming pool. It is less touristy than Grand Baie and has a more authentic feel. The water gets deep quickly which makes it great for real swimming.

7. Mont Choisy Beach (North Coast)
Overview: Mont Choisy is the longest beach in the north. It stretches for almost 3 kilometers from Pointe aux Canonniers to Trou aux Biches. 8. Blue Bay Marine Park (South Coast)
Overview: Blue Bay is home to the largest coral reserve in Mauritius. It is a protected marine park which means the biodiversity is incredible. The water is crystal clear and teeming with fish. It is a snorkeling paradise.

Best Time to Visit: May to November gives you the best visibility. The water is generally calm because it is a sheltered bay.
What to Do: Snorkeling is the main event here. You do not even have to swim far to see amazing corals. If you do not want to get wet take a glass bottom boat tour. You can see everything without messing up your hair. You can also take a speedboat trip to nearby islands.

9. Poste Lafayette Beach (East Coast)
Overview: If you want something wild and untamed Poste Lafayette is the place. It is rugged and beautiful with volcanic rocks scattered along the white sand. 10. Tamarin Bay & Beach (West Coast)
Overview: Tamarin is different. It has black sand and a cool surfer vibe. It is less touristy and more authentic. The bay is scenic with the Tamarin Mountain in the background. It is a favorite among surfers and those who want to see dolphins.
